Doubles:  A Novella by Nora Gold

ENGLISH CORNER, CON LINDA JIMÉNEZ – This week’s trivia question:  Why did Nora Gold write this novella from the point of view of a twelve-year-old girl?

Dr. Nora Gold is a prize-winning author who was born in Montreal, Canada, in 1952.  She received her BSW from McGill University and her MSW and PhD in social work from the University of Toronto.  While a tenured professor of social work, she conducted research in the fields of disability, child welfare, sexism, and antisemitism. After leaving her academic position to write fiction full time, she spent six years as the Writer-in-Residence at the Centre for Women’s Studies in Education at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto, where she created and coordinated the Wonderful Women Writers reading series, which she later hosted at the Toronto Public Library. Dr. Gold has appeared as a featured guest on podcasts and videocasts based in India, Australia, the United States, and Canada.

In addition, she is the founder and editor of Jewish Fiction, a prestigious online literary journal that publishes Jewish-themed fiction from around the world, and has readers in 140 countries. It is the only journal (in print or online) devoted exclusively to publishing Jewish fiction, and in its first 16 years it has published 650 works (never before published in English) that were either written in English or translated into English from 22 languages.

In previous programs we have spoken with Dr. Gold about Jewish Fiction and her two most recent books, and we are including links to those programs on this page.

This week we are speaking with her about her creative process and her latest book, Doubles, a novella that will be released on May 1, and that you can preorder here.
