ENGLISH CORNER, CON LINDA JIMÉNEZ – This week’s trivia question:  How many surnames identify people as being Chuetas, descendents of the original Jewish inhabitants of Mallorca?

Dani Rotstein was born in the United States and in 2014 relocated to the Spanish island of Mallorca, where he found that the Jewish population was very diverse and didn’t organize many activities as a community.  Since then he has been very engaged in bringing the community together through the organization of both religious and cultural activities. Dani also gives cultural tours of Jewish Mallorca, which can be taken in person or as virtual tours online.  He spoke with us about the Chuetas, who were the original Jewish inhabitants of the island, and the modern Jewish community there.
