THE JEWS: 5000 YEARS AND COUNTING, with Rob Kutner

ENGLISH CORNER, CON LINDA JIMÉNEZ –  This week’s trivia question: Who is the book’s intended readership?

May is Jewish Heritage Month in Canada and the United States, and what better way to celebrate than with Rob Kutner’s latest book, The Jews: 5,000 Years and Counting, which is a comedic survey of all of Jewish history?

Kutner is an American comedy writer and producer. He was born in Atlanta and educated at Princeton University, and has lived in St. Petersburg Russia, Jerusalem, and even been deported from Uzbekistan.

Rob has won numerous awards for his work, including 5 Emmys, a Peabody, a Television Critics Association Award, and a Grammy, writing for such shows as TBS’ “CONAN” and “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. He co-created the fact-based comedy TV show Gander, and is currently Head Writer for the independent interfaith action-comedy animated show God’s Gang.

He has also written material for the Oscars, Emmys, Writers’ Guild Awards, MTV Movie Awards, Guys’ Choice Awards, and two White House Correspondents’ Dinners. He has developed kids’ and adult animated series for Warner Brothers and SyFy.

Rob is a Senior Lecturer in Comedy Writing at Loyola Marymount University’s School of Film and Television, and has published humor and feature pieces for the New Yorker, New York TimesEsquireHuffington PostMcSweeney’s, and the Weekly Forward.
