Three Chanukah Stories by I. B. Singer
ENGLISH CORNER, CON LINDA JIMÉNEZ – This week we’re celebrating Chanukah and, in keeping with our tradition here at English Corner, I’m going to read you a story–actually three stories.
“Grandmother’s Tale”, “The Devil’s Trick” and “Zlateh the Goat” , by Isaac Bashevis Singer, are from Zlateh the Goat and Other Stories, which was the Nobel Prize winner’s first book for children. The stories were translated from the Yiddish by the author and Elizabeth Shub and the illustrations are by Maurice Sendak. The book was published in 1966 by Harper and Row. We hope you enjoy them and you and your families have a very happy Chanukah.
