Upon the Wings of an Eagle: A Family Saga by Chaya Diane Hager
ENGLISH CORNER, CON LINDA JIMÉNEZ – This week’s trivia question: What is the name of the German Jewish philanthropist whose organization sponsored the large-scale emigration of persecuted Jews from Russia in the 19th century, and the founding of Moisés Ville, the Jewish agricultural colony in Argentina?
Chaya Diane Hager was born in Colombia and, after living in Madrid for 20 years, moved to Israel with her family in 1994. She currently lives in Jerusalem and is studying for a degree in English literature at Bar-Ilan University. Her first book, From Bogota to Madrid to Jerusalem, tells the story of the spiritual journey that eventually led her to make aliyah. Her second book, Upon the Wings of an Eagle, is a historical novel that chronicles the experiences of several members of a Jewish family at the beginning of the 20th century, as they flee from pogroms in Russia in search of opportunities for a better life in North and South America.
