A Purim Story by Sholem Aleichem
ENGLISH CORNER, CON LINDA JIMÉNEZ – This week we celebrate Purim, so, in keeping with English Corner tradition, I’m going to read you a story. This one is called «The Goldspinners«, and is one of the lesser-known stories by Sholem Aleichem, who is one of the best-known Yiddish writers. It was published in English in the book Holiday Tales of Sholem Aleichem, selected and translated by Aliza Shevrin, and published by Aladdin Books in 1985.
We hope you enjoy it and that you have a happy Purim, filled with Purim-shpiels, and lots of delicious cakes and other shalach manos to share with family and friends.
